Once You Are Accepted

Upon receiving official notification of acceptance to the nursing program (letter of acceptance from nursing program Director), students will be required to submit the following:

  1. Health examination form** There are certain health requirements that must be met prior to enrollment, in compliance with the regulations of the State Board of Nursing, students must satisfactorily complete a physical exam which includes laboratory tests, drug screening and documentation of current immunizations. Any student who cannot perform the essential functions of a student nurse with or without reasonable accommodation cannot be enrolled. The Health Examination form includes documentation of all necessary immunizations including a PPD, varicella and rubella titers, rubeola screen, tetanus booster and Hepatitis series.
  2. Clearances, including: Drug Testing Clearances, Criminal History Clearance, Pennsylvania Child Abuse Registry (Act 151), Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check (Act 34), and Federal Criminal History Background Check (FBI fingerprinting)
  3. Proof of CPR training All students must have current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification (Basic Life Support for the Health Care Provider – including infant and child). Current Certification must be from the American Heart Association and be maintained throughout the extent of the program.

State Board of Nursing Conditions for Licensure

The State Board of Nursing may refuse, suspend or revoke any license in any case where the Board shall find that the applicant:

Applicants for the Nursing Program who are associated with any of these issues are highly encouraged to contact the State Board before entering the program to determine if their level of involvement would prohibit their application for licensure upon graduation from the Nursing Program.
 

Computer Requirements

All students in the Nursing Program at the University of Pittsburgh at Titusville will need frequent access to a computer and the internet throughout the program.

Students are required to purchase a laptop computer with specifications that will be compatible with the software used in the Nursing Program.  Please click here, for the suggested computer configuration.

Liability Requirements

All students in the Nursing Program at the University of Pittsburgh at Titusville must carry liability insurance. This insurance is necessary to cover their actions while they are performing care activities as a student nurse in a variety of clinical and community health settings.
