To access your specific textbooks and course material requirements with estimated pricing, login to my.pitt.edu using your user name and password. Click on Student Center Login on right side of page. Click on Self Service and under Enrollment click My Class Schedule. Select the term and click Continue. Then click View Textbook Summary, on top right of schedule.

Textbooks for each semester become available for purchase the week prior to the start of class, excluding holidays, and are also sold on the Sunday of Move In weekend. New and used textbooks are available, as well as the supplies needed for courses. Students are required to present a copy of their class schedule to purchase books. This is to ensure that they receive the correct books and course materials. Textbooks for summer courses are sold in the Office of Student Services in Bennett Davis Hall between May 1st and July 31st when the Book Center is closed.
Every effort is made to have a sufficient supply of textbooks for every course. If our stock of a title has been depleted we will place individual orders for students that pre pay. In most cases, the book will be received within ten business days.
Terms & Conditions: Prices are subject to change without notice. If a department has not placed a book order for a course it will be listed as Pending. Textbooks are at the discretion of the faculty member and are also subject to change. Please check back frequently or check with your professor. Textbooks purchased from the Book Center are refunded in full when a textbook change is made.
Rent Textbooks: The Book Center rents most textbooks at a fraction of the purchase price, and the rental is for the whole semester. Payment for rented books can be made in cash, check, credit card, SHOP dollars, or by charging the Student’s Account. Rented books are fully refundable, if the class is dropped during the Add/drop period. Students need to present a copy of their class schedule to rent books.
Charge Textbooks: The Book Center allows students to charge textbooks and class supplies to their Student Account. The charges will appear on the students account along with their tuition and fees, and the balance will be owed on the next due date. Financial Aid funds me be used to cover the cost of these charges.
Reserve Textbooks: By completing a Textbook Reservation Form you can have your books boxed and ready for easy pick up when you arrive on campus. You can choose to pay for the reservation with a credit card or check or by charging it to your student account. When you arrive on campus simply come to the Book Center with a photo ID to pick up your box of books.
Refund Policy: A full refund for a textbook will be given if a student drops the course for which the book was purchased, during the add/drop period. To obtain a refund, the original price sticker must be on the book and you must have your receipt and proof of the dropped class. New books must be in perfect condition and shrink wrapped books or bundles cannot be opened. Custom or special order books are excluded from this policy and are nonrefundable even if a class is dropped
Book Buy Back: The Book Center conducts two used book buy backs every year, in December and April during final exam week. Cash will be paid for books that are still in current edition. A used book company representative will be in the Book Center and will pay up to 35% of the new book price for titles that have a national demand. For books being used on this campus for the upcoming term and that are needed to fill the Book Centers stock quota, 50% of the book price will be paid.
