Building Renovation Project Set to Begin at Pitt-Titusville

PITT-TITUSVILLE BUILDING RENOVATION PROJECTS TO PROCEED

TITUSVILLE -- The University of Pittsburgh at Titusville is moving forward with its plan to renovate the
Broadhurst Science Center.

“We are excited and eager to proceed with this project,” said Dr. Catherine Koverola, Pitt-Titusville’s
president, “which will provide some of the unique spaces needed for existing and future programs that will help
meet the educational needs of our neighbors and the workforce needs of our regional employers.”

Renovating the Broadhurst Science Center is the first phase of a four-phase plan to upgrade the facilities at
the Education and Training Hub. Broadhurst Science Center will house health sciences programs, including the
associate degree in nursing and the medical assistant certificate program that will be offered by Manchester Bidwell
Corp. once the renovations are complete.

Perry Construction of Erie is the general contractor for the renovation project, which is scheduled to begin
in April.

Last year, Pitt-Titusville was poised to begin renovating the Broadhurst Science Center. However, the
project was paused, as were many other construction projects throughout the University of Pittsburgh, because of
the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Considering the great significance of the hub to the viability of the campus and the region, we now have
the green light to proceed with this important project,” Koverola said.

The hub, an innovative model that combines the expertise of its partners, officially launched in August and
currently offers an associate degree in nursing program. Additional programs and certifications, designed to serve
the needs of residents and employers in the region, will be added later this year.

Officials at the hub also will continue to build and strengthen its programs.

“We continue to collaborate with our hub partners and our neighbors in the community,” Koverola said, “to
design and develop additional programming that helps to spur economic development and provide social mobility
for area residents.”
