Learning Center

The mission of the Learning Center is to provide academic assistance to all Pitt students in developing the skills and strategies necessary to become confident, independent, life-long learners.
Comprised of Pitt-Titusville faculty and supplemetnal instructors, Learning Center tutors provide direct instructional academic support tailored to the skill levels and learning styles of all students. Skills are developed by identifying strengths and weaknesses in content areas, developing strategies for improvement, and providing specific goals for success in almost any desired academic discipline. The Learning Center also offers support in reading comprehension, study skills, test-taking strategies, goal setting, time management, growth mindset, and customized learning. Who is eligible to receive tutoring?

Free, peer tutoring is available to anyone enrolled at Pitt-Titusville. In fact, more than 200 students request tutors each academic semester for one-on-one or group sessions.

Who are Learning Center tutors?

Our faculty tutors include a diverse group of highly-qualified instructors who have a tremendous background knowledge of their fields and offer top-level academic support.

Where does tutoring take place?

The newly remodeled Learning Center is located in Room 103 on the first floor of Haskell Memorial Library and is equipped with personal computers, technology, and academic resources.

How does a student request a tutoring appointment?

Visit or contact the Learning Center to schedule an appointment at any time. Tutoring sessions last approximately 30 minutes. Walk-ins are welcome if a tutor is available or if a student is being tutored in the same subject.

What is Supplemental Instruction?

Supplemental Instruction is an innovative program designed to deliver academic assistance coordinated by the Learning Center. Supplemental Instructors (SI's) will sit in on courses with students, acquire the same course information as students, and then will be availble in the Learning Center for tutoring.
