TITUSVILLE, Jan. 6 - Steel Impressions, that six piece steel pan band that wowed their audience two years ago, is returning to the University of Pittsburgh at Titusville on January 25, at 7:30 p.m., in Henne Auditorium.  Steel Impressions hails from Pittsburgh and delivers a lively, memorable performance of classical selections, jazz tunes, funk, and rock and roll mixed with traditional calypso music.

Under the direction of world-renowned steel pan technologist and craftsman, Phil Solomon, Steel Impressions participates in educational programs, interactive lectures and artists-in-residencies.  These programs focus on the history and construction of the steel pan incorporated with lively performances.  The unique sound of the pan instrument originated in the Caribbean in the 1940s and has since become synonymous with tropical music.

Steel Impressions also performs for corporate clients, weddings and a variety of private and public affairs as well as touring festivals and competitions across the country.  Steel Impressions has enjoyed great success since their inception in the early 1990s.  Band members feel privileged to share their knowledge and love of the instruments they play with their audience.
