ALL-STEEL DRUM BAND -- STEEL IMPRESSIONS -- COMING TO CAMPUS ON MONDAY, NOVEMBER 25

TITUSVILLE, Nov. 19 -- Steel Impressions, a six-piece steel pan band from Pittsburgh, will perform on Monday, November 25, at 7:30 p.m. in Henne Auditorium at the University of Pittsburgh at Titusville.  Under the direction of Phil Solomon, a world-renowned steel pan technologist and craftsman, the band will perform a mix of calypso, classical, funk, rock and jazz music.

Steel Impressions has enjoyed great success since their inception in the early 1990’s.  They perform for corporate clients, weddings, and private and public affairs, as well as touring festivals and music competitions across the country.

In addition, they participate in educational programs for school assemblies, interactive lectures and artists in residencies.  These programs focus on the history and construction of the Steel pan and incorporate lively performances.  The unique sound of the pan instrument originated in the Caribbean in the 1940’s and has since become synonymous with tropical music.

Steel Impressions is part of the 2002-2003 Spotlight Series, sponsored by UPT and Titusville Winter Theatre.  For more information or to reserve your tickets, call 827-4460.  Tickets will also be available at the door.
