County Older Adult Spelling Bee. |
TITUSVILLE,
May 30
– Dr. Herb Kitson, Professor of English at the
University
of
Pittsburgh
at Titusville, correctly spelled “arsenic” to
become the 2006 Crawford County Older Adult
Spelling Champion.
Some of the other words on the way to the
championship included: superabundant,
unobtrusively, and hypotonic. Titusville Health
& Aging hosted the event on Monday, May 22,
2006.
The free contest was open to all Crawford County
residents age 55 and older. Seven people
competed for the title through 13 rounds before
Kitson claimed victory.
The Titusville resident will represent Crawford
County at the 2006 Pennsylvania Older Adult
Spelling Bee on June 5-6 in
Pottsville.
Titusville Area Senior Citizens Corporation
Executive Director Paul Lukach was on hand to
present Kitson with a trophy and announce that
he will receive free lodging and meals at the
state competition.
