TITUSVILLE, July 22 - The Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE) Team from the University of Pittsburgh at Titusville (UPT) was named First Runner-Up in their league during the SIFE USA National Exposition and Career Fair in Kansas City this spring.

SIFE teams from 195 colleges and universities across the United States were selected at 22 Regional Competitions to compete at the SIFE National Exposition.

UPT SIFE Team members who presented at the National Exposition were Choeum Chhouy (Philadelphia), Eric Hasbrouck (Titusville), Joe Gustafson (Titusville) and Eric Clark (Washington, D.C.).

They were accompanied by Melanie Anderson (Franklin), Assistant Professor of Business and a Sam M. Walton Free Enterprise Fellow, and Debbie Smith (Hydetown), Team member and UPT Admissions staff.

The UPT SIFE Team served the Titusville area this year in several ways, including assisting with school stores at Hydetown, Pleasantville and Main Street Elementary.

These stores provided 4th grade students the opportunity to run their own micro-business for a two-week period.  They selected the school supply products to sell, developed marketing and public relations materials, and sold the merchandise.

SIFE is a non-profit student organization active on more than 1600 college and university campuses in 40 countries.

Throughout the school year, SIFE Teams develop and implement educational outreach projects in their communities that teach people of all ages entrepreneurship skills and the principles of market economics, business ethics and financial responsibility.  At competitions, teams are rated on how well they taught others these skills.
