PLEASANTVILLE ELEMENTARY & UPT SIFE TEAM

PRESENT E-SIFE 2004

TITUSVILLE, May 13 - Pleasantville Elementary School is partnering with the University of Pittsburgh at Titusville Students In Free Enterprise Team to open their school store for the second year.

E-SIFE (Elementary - Students In Free Enterprise) was conceived and developed four years ago by the UPT SIFE Team to teach young children, specifically fourth graders, about entrepreneurship by allowing them to start up and operate a school store.  This project has been a wonderful success for the Titusville School District and the UPT SIFE Team.

The school store will be open 8:00-9:00 a.m., May 17-21.  The fourth graders brainstormed a list of about twenty school supply items to offer in their school store and voted to select the 12 top items to sell.

While working at the store, the students will learn about accounting, economics, business math, customer service and teamwork.  The SIFE Team will assist the young students, along with support from teachers and parent volunteers.

SIFE is a nonprofit international organization with active teams on more than 1,500 college campuses in 37 countries around the world.  The UPT SIFE Team mission is to help individuals from 8-to-80 through free enterprise projects.  The Team teaches money management, fraud prevention, investment strategies, credit card awareness and a variety of other topics as needs are identified.
