TITUSVILLE, May 25 -- Melanie Anderson of Franklin, Assistant Professor of Business and Director of Continuing Education at the University of Pittsburgh at Titusville, recently accompanied members of the Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) Team to Kansas City to present at the 2002 SIFE USA National Exposition.  The Team, along with 750 other colleges, presented their educational outreach projects to a panel of business judges.

Anderson, who last month was named a Sam M. Walton Free Enterprise Fellow for the third consecutive year, also serves as the SIFE Team Advisor.

Under Anderson’s direction, last month the SIFE Team received three awards and was selected as a regional champion at a competition held in Cleveland.  At the 2002 Exposition, they presented a 24-minute multi-media summary of the eight projects they developed and implemented during the past year.

Anderson noted, “The UPT SIFE Team enjoyed the wonderful opportunity to compete with other SIFE Teams from around the nation.  We were energized by the other teams and presentations.  UPT team members are already making plans for next year’s projects.”

In addition to the competition, students had the opportunity to interview for jobs and internships during a two-day Career Opportunity Fair with representatives from more than 40 companies.

SIFE is a non-profit organization that works in partnership with business and higher education to provide college students the opportunity to make a difference and to develop leadership, teamwork and communication skills through learning, practicing and teaching the principles of free enterprise.
