UPT SIFE TEAM FALL UPDATE
Plans Business Career Day, Arranges Series of
Fundraisers for Hurricane Victims
and Organizes Care Packages for Our Troops
TITUSVILLE, Oct. 21
- The University of Pittsburgh at Titusville
SIFE Team has been busy planning several events
for the Fall 2005 semester. They will host the
seventh Annual Business Career Day for area high
schools from the northwest Pennsylvania region
on Friday, October 28, from 8:45 a.m.-1:15 p.m.
Business Career Day provides an opportunity for
high school students to learn about the many
careers in business through a variety of
presentations and planned activities. In
addition, the students learn how to select a
future career, secure and maintain a good credit
record, and investigate small business
ownership.
SIFE
has also been busy conducting a series of
fundraisers this fall to aid the victims of the
hurricanes, as well as to raise funds for SIFE
competitions and events. The Team will sell Bon
Ton Care-to-Share coupon booklets on Saturday,
November 12, that offer store discounts, and
they also will conduct a canned food drive and a
pin-drive in November.
On
another project this fall, the SIFE Team is
working with the UPT Cares Program to collect
supplies to send to former Pitt students
currently serving in the United States Armed
Forces abroad. Two former UPT students are
serving with the U.S. Army in Iraq, Sgt. Amanda
Jackson and Spc. Cindy Jamieson. If other
former UPT students are serving abroad, the SIFE
Team would like to be contacted, so they may
include them in their care package efforts.
