UPT SIFE TEAM TO PRESENT
SPECIAL PROGRAM FOR SENIORS:
SENIORS AGAINST FRAUD VIA EDUCATION (SAFE)
TITUSVILLE, Jan. 16 -- University of
Pittsburgh at Titusville Students In Free
Enterprise (SIFE) will present “SAFE: Seniors
Against Fraud via Education” on Friday, January
29, at 1:00 p.m. in the Billie Brown Building,
and at 2:00 p.m. in Central Towers.
The UPT SIFE Team conceived and developed their
SAFE program to increase senior citizen
awareness of various fraudulent practices, and
to give them the knowledge to fight back and
report fraud.
Topics on the Power Point presentation will
include identity theft, mail fraud, telephone
fraud, internet fraud and check fraud. A
handout will be distributed, and seniors will be
asked to take a pre- and post-quiz to measure
their knowledge of the topic before and after
the presentation. The program will be
videotaped for use at the SIFE Regional
Competition in April.
All Central Towers and Billie Brown Building
tenants are invited and encouraged to attend
this free-of-charge presentation. The
presentation will take approximately one-half
hour.
The UPT SIFE Team’s mission is to help
individuals from 8 to 80 through free enterprise
projects. We teach money management, fraud
prevention, investment strategies, credit card
awareness, and a variety of other topics as
needs are identified. Our goal is to learn
about, teach others, and practice free
enterprise in our community.
SIFE is a nonprofit international organization
with active teams on more than 1500 college
campuses in 37 countries around the world.
