TITUSVILLE, July 3 -- The University of
Pittsburgh at Titusville (UPT) is pleased to
announce its Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA)
Program was awarded accreditation with high
accolades by the Commission on Accreditation in
Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE).
CAPTE found the PTA Program to be 100% compliant
with the evaluative criteria. “This level of
compliance is rare,” says Janet Moffitt,
Director and Assistant Professor of the UPT PTA
Program. “We are very pleased with CAPTE’s
findings, especially after so many months of
dedicated work and preparation for the
accreditation process.”
The PTA Program staff spent 18 months preparing
for the accreditation visit, including faculty
participation in a Self-Study Workshop in
Anaheim, California.
Because the Program was found to be in
compliance, there were no suggestions for
improvements or changes and no requirement for a
progress report. CAPTE administrators referred
to the program as “clean and in good shape.”
The accreditation is good for nine years.
CAPTE, of the American Physical Therapy
Association, is the only accrediting agency for
physical therapist assistant programs, and it is
accredited by the United States Department of
Education.
Only students who graduate from an accredited
PTA program are eligible to sit for licensing
examinations, which are required by most states
before working in patient care.
