TITUSVILLE, July 23 – Dr. Margaret
Hermanek Peaslee, Vice President for Academic
Affairs and Professor of Biology at the
University of Pittsburgh at Titusville, recently
presented a paper at the annual meeting of the
Czechoslovak Society of Arts and Sciences at Coe
College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Her paper, entitled “Politics,
Economics, and the Mendel Museum in Brno,”
describes the changes that have taken place in
the Mendel Museum during two world wars, Nazi
occupation and Communist oppression.
According to Peaslee, “The Czech
Republic’s current status as a free, democratic,
and capitalist society is reflected in the
restoration, renovation and entrepreneurship of
the museum.”
