DR. MARGARET HERMANEK PEASLEE PRESENTS

PAPER ON MENDEL MUSEUM

 

Dr. Margaret Hermanek Peaslee presented a paper on the changes to the Mendel Museum over the last several decades when she attended the annual meeting of the Czechoslovak Society of Arts and Sciences at Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

TITUSVILLE, July 23 – Dr. Margaret Hermanek Peaslee, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Professor of Biology at the University of Pittsburgh at Titusville, recently presented a paper at the annual meeting of the Czechoslovak Society of Arts and Sciences at Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

            Her paper, entitled “Politics, Economics, and the Mendel Museum in Brno,” describes the changes that have taken place in the Mendel Museum during two world wars, Nazi occupation and Communist oppression.

            According to Peaslee, “The Czech Republic’s current status as a free, democratic, and capitalist society is reflected in the restoration, renovation and entrepreneurship of the museum.”
