TITUSVILLE, Nov. 5 -- Dr. Margaret
Hermanek Peaslee, Vice President of Academic
Affairs and Professor of Biology at the
University of Pittsburgh at Titusville, will
conduct a Study Abroad to the Czech Republic for
students from the University of Pittsburgh
Titusville and Oakland campuses. Leaving on May
1, the group will travel to Prague, Pilzen and
Brno, Czech Republic.
Cynthia A. Andes, Assistant Professor of
Humanities and English, will accompany Peaslee.
Under the professors’ direction, students will
earn three credits while studying the History of
Genetics in the Czech Republic and Art and
Architecture of the Czech Republic. In
addition, they will visit museums, art galleries
and the University of West Bohemia before
returning May 15.
Peaslee’s maiden name, Hermanek, is
well-recognized in the Czech Republic. “That is
the name that hotels pick up right away and
register both David (her husband) and me under,”
says Peaslee. “Hermanek translates to
“chamomile” like the tea.”
