TITUSVILLE, July 3 – The University of Pittsburgh at Titusville is pleased to announce the addition of a Massage Therapy Certificate Program to its growing number of health related programs.

Gregory Brink of Venango has been hired as instructor for the program, which will begin this fall.  The Massage Therapy Certificate Program can be completed in as little as one year. Students will be accepted each fall term and attend three consecutive terms.  The massage therapy lectures and laboratories will be offered Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings.  Additionally, students will have the opportunity to work with licensed massage therapists in the region.

The curriculum will begin with Introduction to Human Systems and Introduction to Massage Therapy in the fall term.  Students will take Intermediate Massage Therapy in the spring term and Advanced Massage Therapy in the summer term.

Additionally, students will take two three-credit electives to complete the 24-credit curriculum.  The UPT certificate program fulfills the requirements for national licensure examination eligibility.

The program will prepare students to practice as massage therapists immediately upon graduating from the program.  Massage therapists are employed in numerous practice locations, including private practices, medical clinics, spas and wellness clinics, health centers, home health, hospice, and pediatric facilities.
