KATE FAUNCE OF OIL CITY IS DIRECTOR

OF RESIDENCE LIFE AT UPT

Kate Faunce is new Director of Residence Life and Judicial Affairs at UPT.

TITUSVILLE, Oct. 22 – Kate Faunce of Oil City is making a difference as Director of Residence Life and Judicial Affairs at the University of Pittsburgh at Titusville.  In the two months since she began her position, Faunce has developed a strong support system for her resident assistants.

Faunce is a 1999 graduate of Bloomsburg University with a Bachelors in Special Education and a 2001 graduate of Smith College with a Masters in Education of the Deaf.  She has served in AmeriCorps, located in Knox, in their alternative education program, and has taught at the Clarke School for the Deaf in Northampton, Massachusetts.  The last two years, Faunce served as Hall Director of Hart Global Living and Learning Center at SUNY Oswego in New York.

Professionally, Faunce is striving to create a strong support system for her resident assistants.  “I want to be effective in supporting the RAs, and want them to know that I will back them up.”

She is pleased to be at UPT and, on a personal note, back in her home area.  Faunce said that being near family was a consideration when she applied for the position.  “Being able to move back to the area was a big priority for me,” says Faunce.  “I missed it and love it so much.”

Faunce resides on campus at UPT, but spends her free time visiting her parents, Susan and David Faunce, of Oil City.
