TITUSVILLE, Mar. 12 -- The Heinz Chapel Choir of the University of Pittsburgh will perform at the University of Pittsburgh at Titusville on Thursday, March 21, at 7:30 p.m. in Henne Auditorium.

Under the direction of John Goldsmith, the Choir will perform a variety of American, British, West African, Russian, Elizabethan England, Brazilian, Gospel and Spiritual songs.

The Choir is an auditioned ensemble made up of University of Pittsburgh students who rehearse four hours per week and receive one college credit each semester for their participation.  The singers represent thirty-seven different fields of study.

Goldsmith, who has served as director since 1989, is an a cappella specialist who teaches the two-year ear-training course sequence for music majors at Pitt.  He has conducted professional choirs in Houston and Kansas City, and serves as Artistic Director of The Bellefield Singers, a professional six-voiced a capella ensemble.

A professional countertenor, Goldsmith is an Alumnus of Chanticleer who has appeared with many orchestras, professional choirs and universities in the United States, and has performed with the Robert Shaw Festival Singers in Carnegie Hall in New York and France.
