John R. Mumford, Executive Director of Enrollment Management, presents the first Ruth R. Gilson Scholarship Award to Titusville High School Senior Allison Carver.

TITUSVILLE, May 15 -- The University of Pittsburgh at Titusville awarded the first Ruth R. Gilson Scholarship Fund to Allison Carver, a Titusville High School senior.  Allison plans to attend UPT in the fall and major in pre-pharmacy.  She will receive $3,000 each year that she attends UPT and maintains a 3.0 GPA.

According to John R. Mumford, Executive Director of Enrollment Management, “The scholarship committee selected Allison because she has the record of highest achievement.”

Allison is a member of several high school student organizations:  Stand Tall, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Varsity Club, Varsity Cheerleading, Astronomy Club, Environment Club and National Honor Society.

She resides in Cherry Tree with her parents, Ken and Cathy Carver.

UPT received $228,000 last fall from the estate of Ruth R. Gilson, a lifelong Titusville resident, to establish this special fund, which provides scholarships to graduates of the Titusville Area School District who wish to attend UPT and who demonstrate a financial need and meet the established criteria.
