DR. MARGARET PEASLEE AWARDED GRANT
TITUSVILLE, Jan. 8 -- Margaret
Peaslee, Ph.D., Vice President for Academic
Affairs and Professor of Biology at the
University of Pittsburgh at Titusville, has been
awarded a Hewlett International Small Grant in
the amount of $1,350 for continued research in
the Czech Republic.
Peaslee is one of three UPT professors who will
conduct a study abroad in the Czech Republic
this May.

PUBLISHED IN KOSMAS
Margaret Hermanek Peaslee, Ph.D., Vice
President for Academic Affairs and Professor
of Biology at the University of Pittsburgh
at Titusville, has been published in the
Fall 2001 issue of KOSMAS: Czechoslovak
and Central European Journal.
Peaslee co-authored an article with
Vitezslav Orel entitled “F.M. (Ladimir)
Klacel: Teacher of Gregor Mendel.”
Included in the editor’s notes is a brief
biography of Dr. Orel, Emeritus Head of the
Mendel Museum in Brno, Czech Republic. Dr.
Orel suffered great personal and
professional hardships under both the Nazi
and the Communist occupations of his
country.
Peaslee will conduct a study abroad in the
Czech Republic May 1–14, 2002. |

KIM HUEGEL
BOARD
CERTIFIED
IN SOCIAL WORK
Kimberly Huegel, Assistant Instructor of
Sociology at the University of Pittsburgh at
Titusville, has been recognized as a Board
Certified Diplomat in Clinical Social Work
(BCD) by the American Board of Examiners in
Clinical Social Work.
Certification is based on attaining
specified levels of currency of practice,
maintaining state licensure in good
standing, continuing education, and adhering
to ABE’s Code of Ethics.
Huegel conducts a clinical practice in
psychotherapy at Craig Psychological
Associates, Inc., in Seneca. Her specialty
areas include depression and grief. She has
taught at UPT for nine years. |

STEPHANIE
THOMAS TO SERVE WITH NACA
Stephanie Thomas, Director of Student
Activities at the University of Pittsburgh
at Titusville, was selected to serve as the
Graphic Arts Coordinator for the National
Association for Campus Activities (NACA) for
the new Mid-Atlantic region for 2002.
Thomas will be in charge of registering
graphic arts, displaying entries, finding
judges, and announcing the winners at the
2002 NACA Conference in Lancaster,
Pennsylvania, scheduled October 19-22. She
will work closely with schools from
Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York,
Delaware, Maryland and Washington, DC. |
