TITUSVILLE, PA, Mar. 27 – Emil M. Spadafore, Jr., Esquire, of Meadville, was recently elected as Chairman of the University of Pittsburgh at Titusville Advisory Board.  Spadafore, who assumed his new responsibilities in January, previously served as Vice-Chairman of the Board.  The UPT Advisory Board is composed of local and regional representatives who serve as advocates for the institution and as advisors to the president.

Spadafore earned his Bachelor’s of Arts degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 1971 and his Juris Doctor from Duquesne University School of Law in 1976.

He has been a partner in the law firm of Thomas, Spadafore, Walker and Keenan in Meadville since 1989.  Spadafore previously owned Spadafore, Vardaro, Walker and Johnson from 1981 to 1989, served as an associate in the firm of Bozic, Thomas and Johnson from 1976 to 1981, as a junior law clerk to the Honorable Louis L. Manderino of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court from 1973 to 1975, and as an investigator for the Allegheny County Court of Common Please, in the Bail Agency Criminal Division, from 1975 to 1976.

For the past six years, Spadafore has served as an adjunct faculty member, teaching courses in Business Law, Introduction to Criminal Justice, Critical Issues in Criminal Justice, Introduction to Criminology, Courts and the Law, Society and the Law, and Law and Politics at the University of Pittsburgh at Titusville.

In addition, he has taught courses for Mercyhurst College Northeast at the Municipal Police Officers Training Academy.  For several years, Spadafore also taught at Penn State Behrend, the American Institute of Banking, as well as lectured on Trial Tactics for the Pennsylvania Bar Institute, served as guest lecturer for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania on estate matters for personnel who were retiring, and conducted estate planning seminars for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania State Retirement System.

Spadafore’s broad experience in law includes Education Law, Civil Litigation, Administrative Litigation, Business Transactions, Commercial Litigation, Real Estate Transactions and Municipal Law.

He was selected by the Leadership Management Institute as a featured speaker at their National Convention in Dallas, Texas.

Spadafore is Secretary/Treasurer of the Board of Directors of WQLN Public Television of Northwest Pennsylvania, past Chairman of the WQLN Community Advisory Board, past-president and vice-president of the Meadville Jaycees, a Parish Council Member of St. Mary’s Church, a member of the Meadville Medical Center Foundation, the Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association, and the Pennsylvania Bar Association (Civil Litigation and Education Law Sections).

Spadafore and his wife Kathleen have been married 30 years and have four children.
