UPT CHEMISTRY CLUB RECEIVES TRAVEL GRANT

TITUSVILLE, Mar. 23 - The University of Pittsburgh at Titusville Student Affiliates Chapter of the American Chemical Society has been awarded a National Meeting Travel Grant by the ACS Division of Education and the Society Committee on Education.  

Through the Grant, students will attend the 227th ACS National Meeting in Anaheim, CA, on March 28-April 1.  The Chapter will participate in the Undergraduate Research Poster Session on Monday, March 29.  Under the direction of Dr. Margaret Peaslee, professor of biology, and Dr. Ping Furlan, associate professor of chemistry, the UPT Chemistry Club will present two research posters on FTIR studies of mouse blood and solvent effects on albumin conformations.

The Club will also present two chapter posters featuring annual activities and an outreach project during the Successful Student Affiliates Chapter Activities Poster Session

As one of the national award –winning Student Affiliates Chapters, the UPT Club will be recognized during the ACS Student Affiliates Chapter Awards Ceremony on March 28.

The Chapter will also attend the following undergraduate programs: Forensic Chemistry, Internships and Other Experiential Education Opportunities, Chem Demo Exchange Using Household Chemicals, Kids & Chemistry and Chemists Celebrate Earth Day Workshops.
