DR. BARBARA REAGLE NAMED NEW ATHLETIC DIRECTOR

Barbara W. Reagle, Ph.D., UPT's new Athletic Director, believes athletics are an important part of retention and enrollment management for UPT.  She looks forward to promoting the campus and recruiting future athletes.

TITUSVILLE, August 28 – President Michael A. Worman is pleased to announce the appointment of Barbara W. Reagle, Ph.D., as the new University of Pittsburgh at Titusville Athletic Director.  Reagle assumed her duties in early August.

Since 1990, Reagle served as Director of Student Development at Venango Campus of Clarion University.  She was Supervisor of Student Teachers at Allegheny College in early 1990, Dean of Students at Villa Maria College and Gannon University from 1987-90, Director of Student Development at UPT from 1986-87, Director of Student Activities, Counseling and Learning Skills at UPT from 1984-86, Assistant Professor in Physical Education at Goucher College from 1980-84, and Supervisor of Student Teachers at Slippery Rock University from 1978-80.

Reagle earned both her Bachelors of Science in Health, Physical Education, and Recreation and Masters of Education in Physical Education from Slippery Rock University in 1978 and 1979.  She earned her Ph.D. in Higher Education from the University of Pittsburgh in 1986.

While working at Venango Campus, Reagle also served as retention coordinator, Perkins Grant coordinator, and was instrumental in the development of new services, such as supplemental instruction, on-campus day care, student-at-risk programs, learning support groups, mentoring programs and extramurals.

As part of her initial duties as athletic director at UPT, Reagle recruited a new basketball coach.  She says, “The UPT Athletic Program is integral to the campus.  It is an important component of the retention and enrollment management program for the institution.  That was one of the strong selling points for my acceptance of the UPT Athletic Director’s position.”

Reagle says she believes strongly in the mission and philosophy of UPT.  “A small campus atmosphere with the University of Pittsburgh’s international reputation is a wonderful opportunity for the students in this area,” says Reagle.  “It will be easy to be a salesperson for a product like this that I believe in so much.  It will make the athletic recruiting process that much easier.”

Reagle resides in Titusville with her husband John and son Breese.
