Supervisory Skills Certificate Program

The Supervisory Skills Certificate Program has been developed by the University of Pittsburgh's George J. Barco Center for Continuing Education to meet the needs of:   a) employees with good technical abilities who have been promoted into supervisory roles with little more than a handshake for "Good Luck" or b) experienced supervisors who want or need to "brush up" on their skills.

The Supervisory Skills Certificate Program consists of a series of twelve (12) workshops.  Each session is about three hours in length.  The sessions are designed to be highly interactive with one main goal of causing participants to "think differently" about their role (personally and professionally) in the overall growth and improvement of the organization.

The Certificate may also be customized to meet individual needs by selecting sessions from a wide variety of topics such as:

The Role of a Supervisor
Behavioral Style Assessment
Communicating Effectively
Continuous Quality Improvement
Time Management and Delegation
Problem Solving & Decision Making
Motivation and Conflict
Productive Performance Appraisals
Customer Service
Training & Team Building
Stress Management
Managing Change
