The UPT Cares Program was established on September 13, 2002 when one of the University of Pittsburgh at Titusville's (UPT) own staff member, Roger Loker, (front row, last on  right), and his U.S. Air Force Reserve Unit were placed on Active Duty Status and deployed to Afghanistan shortly after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attack.

When their 1 year tour of duty was almost complete, Roger's Reserve unit received orders stating they may be serving an additional year.  It was at this time UPT  employees Marjorie Straub and Debbie Biggerstaff decided to enlist the help of UPT's employees and students to send care packages overseas to our troops.

Roger and his unit have since returned, but UPT Cares still continues to send cards, letters &  packages to oversea troops to boost the morale of the soldiers and show our appreciation.

Please join us in continuing to make the UPT Cares Program a success.
