Haskell Memorial Library is located at the University of Pittsburgh at Titusville, a regional campus in a rural community in northwestern Pennsylvania. Founded the same year as the Titusville Campus in 1963, the library has been housed in various locations throughout the community. It moved to its present location in September 1975. Haskell Memorial Library was established to provide academic support and to serve the research needs of the Titusville Campus’ students, faculty, and staff. It combines the advantages of a small college library’s personal touch with those of a major educational institution’s vast array of information resources. The library’s collection consists of 40,000+ items, including books, periodicals, newspapers, pamphlets, videos, audio cassettes, CD-ROMs, microfilm, and electronic databases. Through PITTCat, the university’s online public access catalog, the campus community has access to the more than 3.5 million items owned by the 27 libraries in the Pitt system. The university’s Digital Library provides access to more than 100 electronic resources, including electronic texts and journals, full text articles, indexing and abstracting databases, encyclopedias, dictionaries, and other reference sources. Haskell Memorial Library’s Interlibrary Loan and Internet access services make it possible for its students and faculty to combine the personalized qualities of a small rural campus with the information resources of the world.

Books circulate for 28 days.  They may be renewed one time, unless reserved by another patron.  You may renew items by yourself in PITTCat by clicking on the My Account button.

A valid Pitt ID card or a Titusville Courtesy Patron card is needed to check out ALL materials.

Overdue fines are 25 cents per item per day.

The charge for a lost item is the replacement cost plus a $15 processing fee.  Registration and grades will be held if any obligation is owed to the library.

Reference books, magazines and newspapers, reserve items do not circulate.

There is an outside book return to the right of the front doors.  Please use it when the library is closed.

Reserves

Items which have been placed on reserve are available at the Information Desk.  Ask for them by the professor’s name and title of the item.

Copies

A copier is located beside the Information Desk.  The copying fee is 5 cents per page, whether paper or transparency.

Quiet Study Areas The seating areas to the right and left of the stack area and the study carrels are quiet study areas.  There should be no group study or conversation in these areas.
Interlibrary Loans Interlibrary loan service is available to University of Pittsburgh students, faculty and staff members only.  All interlibrary loan requests must be approved by a library staff member.  Hand request forms to the person at the Information Desk or fill out the form at this web site.

Pitt-Titusville’s resources must be searched thoroughly and used completely before interlibrary loans will be submitted.

The borrower is responsible for all loan and photocopying charges.

At least one week should be allowed for the arrival of interlibrary loans.
Information Literacy
