ENGLIT 0625 - DETECTIVE FICTION 3 credits This course focuses primarily on American detective fiction of the "hard-boiled" school. Particular emphasis will be given to the relationship between detective fiction and the social forces out of which it emerges. Contemporary and historical fiction is included, as are male and female writers. As in all introductory literature courses, attention is given to basic literary vocabulary and concepts.
