Early Alert Program

The purpose of the Early Alert Program is to identify students who are having problems which may prevent them from achieving academic success in college.

Problems may fall into one of three categories:  some may appear to be of personal nature which does not affect academic performance; some may be personal and have a noticeable impact upon academic matters; some may appear to be solely academic in nature.

Your early help may make a vital difference in a person's life and have a great effect on possible drop-out and attrition rates.  The Early Alert Referral Form can be used at any time when you sense a problem with a student who

  • stops attending class

  • shows unexplainable disinterest

  • fails to turn in assignments consistently or is consistently late with assignments

  • indicates dissatisfaction">

You may print out the Early Alert Referral Form.  Use the form to note your concern and include any other information you think is pertinent.  Please send the form to the Counseling Center or call the Center with your concerns.

A maximum of three notices will be sent to the student in an attempt to meet with him/her.  You will receive feedback as to whether or not the student met with the counselor.  Sometimes student problems cannot be resolved by resources available on our campus, but we will make every possible attempt to help the student.

If you have any questions about whether you should complete the form and would like to discuss the possible problem before doing so, please e-mail me or call me at ext. 4465.
