An account has been created to support professional development opportunities for UPT staff. The initial objective is to focus on campus priorities and department needs by providing opportunities for staff to attend professional conferences or workshops which would advance the mission of the University of Pittsburgh at Titusville.
The following information must be included for requests to be considered:
- Request Description (Who will attend, where and when?)
- General Description of Conference or workshop (What is it?)
- Funding Request (How much money is needed? Must include breakdown of budget; travel needs (air, hotel, meals, etc.)
- Rationale/Justification for Request (Why is it necessary?)
- A summary of previous conferences attended by staff member being considered.
- Departmental Professional Development Plan (How will this request benefit campus and departmental needs?)
- Please indicate if there is an alternative source of funding, such as a grant, etc.
For your convenience, attached is a Staff Professional Development Application. Request should be submitted to the committee 30 days prior to event, with both your supervisor and the appropriate Senior Staff member’s approval.

The following should continue to be submitted to the appropriate supervisor and senior staff member for approval and related expenses should be charged to the respective departmental budget:
- Workshops offered by the University’s Faculty and Staff Development Program
- Targeted University training, such as PeopleSoft, Oracle, PittSource, etc.
- Conferences, seminars, etc., for staff where funding comes from sponsored projects
- Business meetings which require travel expenses
