Student Organizations

Student OrganizationsTo be recognized by the University, a student organization must have an advisor selected from university faculty-staff membership and a constitution approved by the Student Activities Office. Once approved the club/organization may apply for funding through the Student Budget Committee (SBC).

Alpha Omega

Alpha Omega Campus FellowshipAlpha Omega Campus Fellowship is a student group under the guidance of community ministries. This club provides activities and fellowship opportunities to foster spiritual growth.

Biology Club

Biology and Health Sciences Club

Engages students interested in biology and the health sciences field.

Black Student Union (BSU)
Advisor:     Ms. Mary Ann Caton

This group works to create a climate and community that allows African-American community to integrate into the community at large. BSU educates the campus community of African-American culture and history, while having fun.

Commuter Student Association (CSA)

Commuter Student Association

This organization assists the commuter students in academic pursuits and promotes participation in campus activities.

This group hopes to unify the members and to encourage them to work collectively as a group to promote professional, social, educational, and cultural issues that are central to the professional development of student nurses.

Paintball League

This is a recreational group that establishes times for students involved in the club to play paintball off campus.

Phi Theta Kappa
Advisor:     Dr. Jon Serra

Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society is a prestigious group of scholars from over 1,100 two-year colleges across the United States, Canada, and abroad.

Phi Theta KappaThe mission of Phi Theta Kappa is to recognize and encourage scholarship among college students. The three-fold purpose of the Alpha Pi Zeta chapter of Phi Theta Kappa at UPT is 1) the promotion of scholarship and the stimulation of interest in continuing academic excellence, 2) to provide the opportunity for the development of leadership and service, and 3) the cultivation of lively fellowship among qualified students of this college.

Cap and GownOnly a few select students are invited to join Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society with membership contingent upon scholastic achievement (GPA of 3.5 is required), as well as evidence of high moral standards and good citizenship.

Membership in Phi Theta Kappa is a highly coveted honor that will enrich your life while you attend UPT through participation in its social events and community service projects, and will also remain with you as you pursue your further educational or career goals.

Physics and Engineering Club

Physics and Engineering

Physics and Engineering Club is an organization primarily for physics and engineering students and secondarily for anyone who has an interest in the aforementioned areas. The club provides members opportunities to engage real life problems and to interact with other members in an informal setting.

Student Activities Board (SAB)

Student Activities BoardThe SAB is the primary programming organization at UPT and book entertainment, host entertainers, and publicize events. SAB is a member of the National Association for Campus Activities (NACA).

Student Government Association (SGA)
Advisor:     Dr. Checka Leinwall

This organization provides a forum for student input into decisions affecting student life. SGA monitors expenditures of student activities fees.

Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE)
Advisors:     Ms. Susan Patton

SIFE

is an international organization active SIFE Students on over 1800 campuses in more than 40 countries. SIFE teams create economic opportunities in their communities by organizing outreach projects that teach: market economics, entrepreneurship, personal financial success skills, and business ethics. Their projects are judged at regional and national competition on creativity, innovation, and effectiveness.

Students in the Physical Therapy Assistant Program Program Club (SPTA)
Advisors:     Dr. Richard Cribbs, Ms. Joyce Carbaugh

SPTA Club

Students in the Physical Therapist Assistant Program are members of the SPTA Club. The Club’s mission is to promote personal and professional growth while encouraging learning and involvement in health care.

Club members participate in various events including the APTA’s National Student Conclave and sponsor local events such as the Wellness Series held on the UPT Campus.
