The purpose of the Associate of Science Degree in Accounting at the University of Pittsburgh at Titusville is to provide students with a strong foundation in business concepts, communication skills, and analytical skills that will serve as a solid base for a professional career in accounting or for advanced study in accounting. This program also provides students the opportunity to explore other streams of knowledge to broaden their horizons.

At the completion of their degree program in accounting, students should be able to:

  1. Explain basic accounting principles, concepts and constraints.
  2. Demonstrate an understanding of the accounting process and apply the rules of debit and credit.
  3. Identify basic financial statements, explain their purpose and perform basic financial statement analysis.
  4. Demonstrate an understanding and basic working knowledge of the theories, concepts, and methods used in management, marketing, finance, business law, and economics.
  5. Apply concepts and skills to make basic business decisions.
