The University of Pittsburgh at Titusville has been accepted for full membership into the Western Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference (WPCC) starting this fall.
The WPCC is composed of junior colleges, community colleges and technical schools in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania that have varsity athletic programs.
Membership into the WPCC is an important step into the evolving athletic programs at Pitt-Titusville. According to Harry Miller, Director of Athletics at Pitt-Titusville, “In joining the WPCC, Pitt-Titusville is making a strong commitment to the continued success of the athletic programs and to the student-athletes.”
WPCC members include Community College of Beaver County, Community College of Allegheny County (Allegheny Campus, South Campus, Boyce Campus and North Campus), Butler County Community College, Pennsylvania Highlands Community College, Westmoreland Community College and Potomac State College.
“Most of the teams in this conference we have already competed against in the past and played competitively” says Miller. New to the schedule this year will be the addition of Potomac State.
“We are very excited about becoming a member of WPCC,” says Miller. “Membership into the WPCC will allow our student-athletes to compete for a conference championship.”
Both teams will host their home opener on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. for the women and 3:00 p.m. for the men when they host Lorain County Community College.
All Pitt-Titusville home games are open to the public at no charge. For more information on Pitt-Titusville's basketball programs or for schedule information, please contact Harry Miller at (814) 827-4463 or visit www.upt.pitt.edu.
