Pitt Titusville Student Government Association leaders and members of the Student Activities Board held a Penny War on campus in April to raise money for the campus’s Relay for Life Team. While hosting the daily fundraising drive, students asked those donating to sign a shirt to be sent to University of Pittsburgh All-American running back James Conner who is being treated for Hodgkin Lymphoma.
The shirt was signed by students, faculty, staff and community members and was sent to Pittsburgh for the football player in late April. Some inscriptions included words of encouragement and Hail to Pitt, while others signed their name in support of his courage to fight his illness and return to playing football for Pitt.
All money raised during the Penny War will be donated to the Pitt Titusville Relay for Life Team to help fund cancer research.
